Our 20th annual Irving Street Block Party is back and will be on Saturday September 18th from 12:30-6pm with a rain date of Saturday Sept 25th. This is for residents, former residents, renters, owners, kids, and community! Please encourage your neighbors and tenants to attend.
The street will be closed from 11:30 to 8 p.m. and set-up will begin around 11:30 if you would like to help. Please do not park between #17-60.
The block party may include some of the following, although we may need to make some updates this year due to public health guidance and Covid-19 restrictions:

Our eleventh annual Irving Street Block Party will be on Saturday the 17th of September from noon to 6 p.m. (with a rain date of September 18th). Please bring a dish to share.

On Friday Sept 16th we will also be having the annual Irving Street Pub Crawl starting. (We are still looking for titles for this year. "Night of the Paved Street" has been proposed.)

The 2010 Block Party was a great success! Thank you for all of those who helped out and attended! As Phil said, "Yes, the weather was perfect, the company superb, the food excellent, the children well-behaved, and the drumming a great addition. And I ended up with a rainbow on my face."
A special Thank You to all of our sponsors this year! Our raffle raised $428 for a local charity: this year's winner was CASPAR, the Cambridge and Somerville alcohol and drug rehabilitation program.

Tonight the Mayor & Aldermen of the City of Somerville awarded our John McKenzie a City Citation & Proclamation for his commitment to the community, prepariong and serving weekly homemade meals to the elderly and homeless for the past 28 years. Frank Senesi, Director of Veterans Affairs, also awarded our Mr. McKenzie a World War II City of Somerville Medal of Honor. The ceremony was beautiful and was attended by John's family, many friends/neighbors, and Masonic Lodge Brothers. Thank you to Our Mayor Curtatone and Alderman Rebekah Gewirtiz for helping to get the Citation/Proclamation, contacting the Veterans Affairs and for the beautiful ceremony and presentation and for taking the time to honor John. Also, thank you to everyone that wrote in support of the award and for attending the ceremony. John has also been invited to be a guest of the Mayor's at an October City of Somerville All American City event. Thank you again, John, for all of your service to our community.

We had a great block party on September 16th (Saturday) of 2006. Thank you to all of those local businesses who donated raffle prizes and to all of you who made it! Planning for the 2007 block party will probably start in June or July.
